Perperúna

Five women, migrating birds from Greece, Germany, Italy, Israel & Spain, driven by a common passion for Greek and Balkan polyphonic traditions.

They explore the symbols, languages and dialects, myths and tales, melody and structure of songs that have been accompanying generations and generations of people in the celebration of life and expression of love, in the working-field, in migration, in the time of war, in the mourning of death, in the praising of nature.

"Perperúna" is a female symbol, an archaic tradition, that survives in the Balkans and refers to a ritual that local women in rural areas are carrying out in times of drought, to ask "god(s)" to pour rain and make the fields and trees spring.
